Llamas are very versatile creatures and can be used for all manner of recreational and other activities, the most common of which is trekking. This can take many forms, from simply taking your llamas for a walk in the local woods to the running of a full llama trekking business where walking with llamas is offered as a paid activity for tourists.

An even more unusual activity is driving. While in their native South America they are only used as pack animals, in many other countries (including the UK) they have been trained to pull light carts. A llama can easily pull an adapted pony cart with up to two adults. Just imagine the attention you would receive when you drove by with a llama cart!

Llamas can also be used as livestock guardians, most commonly used to guard sheep although they have also been successfully used to guard hens, ducks and other animals.
